2009-11-21 作業和練習 Homework and exercise

1. Complete handout-homework.

2. Practice the sentence pattern:

 A 有 幾(個) B。 =>  How many Bs are there in A?

   一年 有 幾 天?
                                             How many days are there in one year?
  * 一個月 有 幾 天?
                                             How many days are there in one month?
  * 一月 有 幾 天?
                                             How many days are there in January?
  一星期 有 幾 天?
                                             How many days are there in one week?
  一年 有 幾個 月?
                                             How many months are there in one year?
  一個月 有 幾(個) 星期?
                                             How many weeks are there in one month?

【Notes:】

1. 星期 can be read as "xing1qi2"  or "xing1 qi1".
2. Use 個 when refereing to number of months, so that it won't be confused with name of months.  For example,  一個月 = one month;  一月 = January。
3. 幾 could mean "how many" or "what/which".  幾月 = which month;  幾個月 = how many month.
4. 幾 could appear before or after the noun it modifies and has different meanings.  Ex. 幾星期 = 幾個星期 = how many weeks;  星期幾 = what day of the week

  你 幾月 生的?
                                             In what month were you born?
  你 星期幾 上中文課?
                                             On what day of the week do you have Chinese lessons?

【Exercise:】  Write the following sentences in Chinese.

1. How many weeks are there in one year?
2. How many days are there in July?
3. How many days are there in two weeks?

===========================
Dear class,

I'm terribly sorry for the typo on the date for the language contests.  Some of you came unprepared 11/14 for the contest.  Fortunately we got some time to practice before the judges came to our classroom.  You did an excellent job given the time you had for preparation.  I'm proud of you and like to let you know that I see great potentials in you to master this language if you put enough efforts into it.  Set up your goal and I'll help you reach it no matter how high it is.

This week's assignment:

1. IQ Chinese Exercise.

If you have trouble printing out the words/sentences from IQ Chinese, ask your mom or dad to check what you have typed on the computer and SIGN on the homework handout sheet. Complete the translations on the sheet too.

Listen to the recordings I put on this blog (or any other sources you have access to) and say the sentences out loud. "Actually SPEAKING it" is important for learning any languages.
