11月8日是“查字典”比賽的日子,因為上課時間有限,大家也已經都了解查字典的方法,所以我決定不要用寶貴的上課時間練習,只有發handout 給同學帶回家做。
We'll have a "Dictionary-Checking Contest" on Nov. 8. Since everyone has learned the techniques of using a Chinese dictionary, I gave handouts for students to practice at home instead of using our valuable class time to do the exercise.
我們班的比賽是排在第二節課,比賽之前我會跟大家復習幾個重點。基本上這次的題目比去年容易,所以同學們不要太緊張,畢竟這只是一次比賽,最重要的是你是不是真的學會了,以後是不是能把這個技巧用在自己的學習上,提升自己的中文能力。比賽時,只要“全力以赴,Do your best." 至於是否得名,先不要想太多。
Our contest is scheduled in the second period, so we'll have time to review some contest tips. Don't be nervous. The questions are easier than those of last year. This is only ONE contest after all. What really matters is that you know how to look up Chinese characters in a dictionary and how to use the skill to improve your overall Chinese language proficiency. Don't think about winning during the contest. Just do your best.

期中考快到了
下個星期就是期中考了,考試範圍只有第一和第二課,雖說不算多,但有幾位同學對一些詞語的意義和用法,還是不能完全掌握,要多用功才行哦。

五年級了 (2008.09.13)
因為種種原因,很久很久沒有更新了,新的學年開始,我想再試試用這個版面來跟學生和家長保持聯繫。
Due to various reasons, this blog hasn't been updated for a long time. With the start of the new school year, I'd like to give it another try to use this blog as a platform for communication between students/parents and me.
新的學年開始於九月六日開始,我繼續教去年的班,也就是今年的五年級。到目前為止,班上有七位學生。
The Twin Cities Chinese Language School began on Sept. 06. I'm teaching the same class which is now the 5th grade. There are seven students in the class so far (yes, I'm still hoping two missing old faces would show up next week).
希望我們一起努力,讓今年的課程愉快而豐富。
Let's work together to make this year a fun and productive one.
