作業 Homework
1. 1-3
2. 抄寫第一課生字表裡的詞語,各一次。
3. 抄寫句子:作業1-1的pp.1-2 填空部分的句子,各抄一次。
4. 第二課 p.18 生字各半行。
5. handouts: 第一課“說故事”的閱讀測驗; 查字典練習。
請預習第二課課文。
另外,第五冊課本沒有附字卡,我會製做一份,讓大家在課堂上練習,但無法幫每個人都做一套,同學們如果有空,可以自己做一份,以便在家練習。
Flash cards are not provided with the 5th grade textbook. I will make some cards for in-class use, but can't make a set for everyone. Students are encouraged to make their own for self-practice.

五年級了 (2008.09.13)
因為種種原因,很久很久沒有更新了,新的學年開始,我想再試試用這個版面來跟學生和家長保持聯繫。
Due to various reasons, this blog hasn't been updated for a long time. With the start of the new school year, I'd like to give it another try to use this blog as a platform for communication between students/parents and me.
新的學年開始於九月六日開始,我繼續教去年的班,也就是今年的五年級。到目前為止,班上有七位學生。
The Twin Cities Chinese Language School began on Sept. 06. I'm teaching the same class which is now the 5th grade. There are seven students in the class so far (yes, I'm still hoping two missing old faces would show up next week).
希望我們一起努力,讓今年的課程愉快而豐富。
Let's work together to make this year a fun and productive one.

1. 1-2 (i.e. Lesson 1--Week 2)
2. 第10頁生字,各半行。(p. 10 new characters, half column each in the Red book.)
3. 抄寫句子:pp 10-11,共12句。(Copy sentences.)
4. 造句:將來,不論。(Make sentences.)
5. 練習寫一張“便條”。(Write a note.)
6. handout,閱讀測驗--“暑假的收獲”。(reading comprehension)
Quiz next week will include:
All 16 new characters;
Match (Chinese phrases & English meanings);
Fill in the blank;
Circle the right words/phrases;
Corrections: cross off unnecessary words/phrases to make an expression correct.
Your are expected to be able to write all the new characters in lesson 1, to know their 注音 and 部首, to know the meaning of the phrases related to those characters, to use the phrases covered in "句子練習" correctly, and also to understand the important points I emphasized in class.
