Class notes: (We covered pp. 58-61.  Study everything on those pages. )

1. 陪 and 部 looks similar, make sure you know which is which and know how to use them in sentences.
    (禮惟 suggested a way to help you memorize it: 陪's Pinyin,  "pei2", startng with "p", which looks like the “阝” and both of them are on the left side.)

2. 部:section; department.  vs.  類: kind, type, category

3. 市: a. city--ex. 台北市,紐約市;b. market--市場,上市
    上市:become available on the market (not "upper city")

4. 剛剛,剛才,剛好,剛...就....

5. We learned a few movie types (電影類別):
    功夫片 (martial arts/kung-fu);
    卡通片 (cartoon);
    喜 ju4 片 (comedy);
    愛情片 (romance);
    動畫片 (anime);
    動作片 (action);

6. 推 push  <--> 拉 pull
    推來推去:push around;
    跑來跑去,走來走去,看來看去,跳來跳去。。。

7. 零食:snack (not junk food; there are healthy snacks)
    零用錢(= 零花錢):allowance;pocket money.
    零錢:change, coins
    零花:spend money on small things.

8. 管理;整理

9. 部分:part.   大部分:big part; majority.
    ex. 媽媽包的餃子大部分都被我吃了。

10. 健康:a. health - 吃太多糖對健康不好。
                  b. healthy - 我的身體很健康。

11. 毛毛雨:(nothing to do with hair or feather...) drizzle; sprinkle.
      John 問: 外面下雨了嗎?  
      Mary 說: 只是毛毛雨。

12. 路面:road surface  (not "deer face" ^_^)

13. List words that look similar and learn the difference:
      a. 桃,逃,跳,挑
      b. 少,炒,吵,抄(copy by hand), 秒
      c. 推,誰,難,雞,雖,準,隻
      d. 頁,類,頭,順,題,願

Homework:

1. Workbook 6-2 (all), and pp. 107, 108.  (pp. 103-106 are optional.)

2. Study for midterm exam (03/05).  Lessons to be tested on are 4, 5, and 6 (excluding "說故事" of Lesson 6).

    *Questions on Lesson 6 will be easier because we only spend 3 hours on it.
  
    *Basic requirements are: new characters in these lessons--be able to recognize them, know their meanings and pronunciations (注音), and know how to use them in phrases and sentences.

    *As what we did before, study the example sentences on the textbook, your Workbook questions, and the quizzes.
